Overview of the Victoria Club

A group of local Woodstock male professionals living in the immediate vicinity of Victoria Park in the north of the City launched the Club in 1921 to advance their understanding of the world and enjoy good conversation and fellowship - and we adhere to this tradition. 
The Woodstock Victoria Club has evolved carefully over the decades including the adoption of digital communications but still comprises a membership of up to approximately 24. The membership meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Periodically  each Active Member is required to jointly select a topic between themselves and the Club.  The topic they have researched and authored  is presented to other members and guests followed by in-depth discussion. 


2022 marks 101 consecutive years of Victoria Club presence in Woodstock and at the end of  the 2021 meeting season celebrated its 1200th paper. We now have members from Woodstock, Brantford, London, Stratford and throughout Oxford County.


Bi-Weekly Meeting Format
The Victoria Club meets typically every other Thursday evening from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm in Woodstock, and occasionally in other surrounding towns, depending on the hosting Member's location.

Meetings are generally hosted at a Member’s home, or a venue chosen by the Host to accommodate all members. Meetings typically consist of introduction and minutes, followed by a summary of the main research paper presentation and moderated discussion.  The summary presentation may be verbal only or with audio visual aids. This is followed by a break for light refreshments and socializing provided by the host. After the break, any Club business is transacted followed by a Member introducing their chosen Current Topic of the day for discussion. 

Club Organization

The Club has a rotating Executive consisting of a President, VP and Club secretary/treasurer. A rotating program selection committee decides discussion topics of general interest to all, based on Members suggestions as well as organizing hosting locations and presenting schedules.
